The Spring 2010 is off to a great start. The UF Career Resource Center has a busy semester planned with many recruiting activities and career opportunities. Below is a list of upcoming workshops designed to prepare you for Career Showcase (January 19 & 20, 2010):

* Showcase Summit, Reitz Union 361-363, January 11, 1-3:45pm.
Attend one or all of these employer hosted workshops.
       Writing a Winning Resume & Cover Letter, 1-1:45pm
       Interviewing Do’s & Don’ts, 2-2:45pm
       Effective Job & Internship Searching, 3-3:45pm

* What I Wish Someone Had Told Me When I Was a Freshman - Presented by IBM, CRC Classroom, January 13, 4-5pm.
This session is designed to help you in thinking about your time at college in preparation for the next step - a career! This is not specific to any major or curriculum. You will learn practical ideas on how to become a better qualified candidate upon graduation - to get you to the front of the line!

* Showcase Essentials Workshop, Grand Ballroom, Salon D, January 14, 3:30pm- 5pm.
Not sure what to expect at Career Showcase?  Let our staff help you prepare.

* Employer Resume Critiques, CRC, January 15, 10am-3pm.
Bring a typed resume for a one-on-one critique session with employers and the CRC staff.

* Employer Mock Interviews, CRC, January 25, 10am-4pm.

Improve your interviewing skills by practicing with a recruiter.  Register in Gator CareerLink to participate.

The IIE Regional Conference, scheduled on from February 25-27 in Atlanta is just a couple of weeks away. The University of Florida chapter is looking for entries for the Technical Essay Competition!

The first place winner at the Regiona Conference will be eligible to compete in the Undergraduate Technical Paper Competition International Finals at the IIE Annual Conference in June 2010 in Cancun, Mexico!

President – Executive Board Position

·         Maintain and develop chapter, coordinate Executive Board

·         Attract guest speakers for meetings

·         Prepare agendas, PPTs

Vice President of Internal Affairs – Executive Board Position

·         Oversee all internal events

Vice President of External Affairs – Executive Board Position

·         Oversee all external events

Secretary – Executive Board Position

·         Communications with department (IIE Email account, Facebook)

·         Flyers for meetings and events (info sessions, Meet the Faculty Luncheon)

·         Newsletter every semester

Treasurer – Executive Board Position

·         Create budget each semester and oversee all chapter spending

·         Coordinate with Chapter Development for food and drinks for meetings & events

·         Oversee bank account and checkbook, BEC/SG funding

·         Reimbursements for all events

Travel Director

·         Plant tours, regional conference

Networking Director (2) – 1 Underclassman
